Lyndale Residential Home provides assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for adults with mental health difficulties within a community setting, whilst providing a safe and supportive environment. Lyndale complies with the regulations of the Health and Social Care Act (2012) and is registered with the Care Quality Commission.

Lyndale History

Lyndale was opened as a residential home in 1987. The current owners have owned Lyndale for 24 Years. It is run by a team of practitioners with extensive experience in supporting people with mental health needs.

Lyndale Ethos

The ethos of Lyndale is the hope that it is possible for meaningful life to be restored despite serious mental illness and providing a holistic view of mental illness that focuses on the person and encourages their personal development, the ability to carry out activities and develop relationships that give their lives meaning. The emphasis is ensuring that clients maintain and feel in control over their lives. Lyndale prides itself as being an innovative organisation.

Individual Service User Plans

Through assessment and reviews, Lyndale has individual Service User Plans that are specifically designed to bring out the best in each individual, enabling individuals to have full control over their lives, while giving them the support and encouragement they need to develop new skills and strengths. Lyndale has a good record of positive rehabilitation projects with 20 service users moving into more independent settings in the last 10 years. Lyndale has become a leading choice within Mental Health Teams within Devon and Plymouth City Council.

Knowledge Skills & Experience

The proprietors recognise the importance of ensuring that staff have the opportunities to develop their knowledge, skills and experience by taking part in a variety of training. Staff are inducted through the Care Certificate programme and complete mandatory training such as Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Awareness, administering medications, Health & Safety etc. Supervisory staff are also encouraged and supported to undertake Managers’ training or/and Health & Social Care training.

About Lyndale

Lyndale is a 15 bedded home which provides accommodation, support and personal care to adults with mental health needs. The accommodation has 15 single bedrooms of which 2 are en-suite, and 1 is a self-contained flat

Ground Floor

2 single en-suite bedrooms and a self-contained flat. 

All bedrooms have privacy locks on doors and a lockable facility to secure valuable items or medication is provided if required.

First Floor

8 single bedrooms. Two bathrooms and three toilets, one shower and one bath.

Second Floor

4 single bedrooms.

All bedrooms have privacy locks on doors and a lockable facility to secure valuable items or medication is provided if required.

Social Rooms

There are 2 lounges. The house is non-smoking, however we have an outdoor conservatory which enables residents to smoke in a comfortable and dry environment. The lounges are light and airy, and have French doors opening onto a patio area and level garden. We have 2 adjoining dining rooms, and a large kitchen. Service users are free to use these communal rooms and utilise their own rooms as they wish.

Both the communal lounges have sky TV, DVD and books. We offer a varied menu catering for all diets.

We have an ‘Open Door’ policy for family and friends to visit. In a private and safe visiting room.

There are a wide range of activities to choose from within the local community. Plus a variety of in-house activities including table tennis, darts, an iPad for communal use, board games and others.

Lyndale is in easy access to local resources e.g. educational, religious, and leisure activities.

Aims & Objectives

It is the aim of Lyndale to provide a home which offers people the opportunity of living in a community setting, experiencing and living life to the fullest, whilst providing a safe and supportive environment.

Referrals

Referrals come from the local authority. Lyndale is able to provide support to service users who are receiving 117 Aftercare, on Section 17 leave, a supervised discharge, Guardianship order or Community Treatment Orders.
